Eurostruct renovated historic Building 20 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard into the headquarters and 'smart factory' for Nanotronics, bringing design, engineering and fabrication under one roof. Designed by Rogers Partners, the 42,000-square-foot project keeps the 1865 shipbuilding warehouse's shell, columns and roof trusses intact. Inside, it adds stacked CLT pods and a new second floor. Eurostruct used large-scale BIM modeling and CNC fabrication for the CLT, architectural metals and office storefronts. That let the team collaborate in real time with fabricators across continents and rely on off-site fabrication, and the CLT pods went up in just 28 days.
